Class Information

Kung Fu Dragons 5yrs – 11yrs

This is a specially designed Kung Fu Kids program that is focused on developing listening skills, coordination, fitness and building resilience. Kung Fu Dragons training is broken up in to 3 different skill levels.

Beginners:
This class lays the foundation for new students to gain an understanding of the importance of kung fu training for development. Students will learn all about self-defense and how to control their personal space to keep themselves safe. They will also learn about basic Kung fu stances and how to move on balance, basic Kung fu striking and how to defend these strikes if some tries to hurt them. 

Intermediate:
This is for students that have completed their beginners’ levels and are ready to take the next step. At this level they will focus on the next level of Kung Fu striking and self-defense with the addition of grappling for self-defense. At this level there is a lift in the focus on personal fitness and strength as these are very important to build resilience
Advanced:
This is for students that are on the road to achieving black sash levels. This is the top level of Kung fu Dragons where students learn to apply advanced Kung fu striking, grappling with the addition of takedowns, foot sweeps and throws.

Kung Fu Teens/Adults 12yrs & Up

The Kung fu training at the FKFA is based on a traditional style of Kung Fu called Choy Lee Fut. Outside of Wing Chun which was popularized by the late Bruce Lee this is one of the most famous styles of Kung Fu ever to come out of China. Choy Lee Fut has been acclaimed as the only Kung Fu style ever to beat a Muay Thai champion in Thailand’s Lumpini Stadium.

All though Freestyle Kung fu is based on traditional Choy Lee Fut it also draws influences from Chinese Boxing/MMA (Sanda), Western Boxing, Muay Thai and Ju Jitsu and is ever evolving using only techniques that have been proven and work.

Classes are high energy and informative focusing on personal development with traditional values and modern training techniques. The Teen/ Adults syllabus focuses on real world application self-defense designed to give you the confidence to keep yourself safe were ever you are, in this unpredictable ever-changing world.
